Agenda: Green Construction

Climate changes force us to rethink our human impact on our planet and urge us to reduce our carbon footprint. The building sector is responsible for around 30 % of carbon emissions globally and it must be lowered drastically to respect the planetary boundaries. We encourage our clients to address sustainability and set goals for ambitious environmental targets.

With a holistic approach, Nord makes it possible to create projects that have a low carbon footprint and with significantly lower emissions. Nord have joined Reduction Roadmap, a platform where a large part of the building industry has joined forces to achieve the goal of building within the planetary boundaries.

Our knowledge about green construction is based on many years of experience where we have gained studied both the theory that we’ve since carried out in actual building projects, on both small and large-scale projects.

Biogenic materials in appropriate constructions are an asset in new and inspiring aesthetics of contemporary architecture. We approach our projects with a conscious and responsible attitude towards material resources. We meticulously incorporate knowledge about sustainability and healthy materials into our designs, continuously seeking out details that lend a significant expression and distinct character to each building.

We support Reduction Roadmap that aims to implement legal requirements saying that all new builds should comply with The Paris Agreement and release less than 5.8 kg CO₂/m₂/year from 2025. The current requirement is 12 kg CO₂/m₂/year.

The construction industry accounts for approximately 30% of Denmark’s total CO2 emissions. The primary cause is currently the use of concrete and steel, which could be improved by using sustainable sourced wood instead.
