NORD Architects took on the task to design the Glostrup Neuro Centre, Denmark, through a visionary approach to healthcare design. The new building had to accommodate both patients and employees as well as promote cooperation and sustainability.
The starting point for the project was the ambition to create a project of a high international standard. It was a new typology in healthcare that moved between the typologies of hospital and home.
We challenged and redesigned the traditional institutional concept, and worked with a new and expanded healthcare concept that deinstitutionalized healthcare.
The architecture breaks down the typical scale in relation to the human scale, and the building was designed to be recognizable and welcoming as well as functional and enable synergies across multiple functions and working areas.
