Integrated Kindergarden

The Integrated Kindergarden was a competition proposal for a new kindergarden in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, which NORD Architects were invited to participate in.

The heart of the proposal is the court yard, which is filled with old trees. It would also be possible to keep up with life in the courtyard from the inside, as large window sections allows both adults and children to keep an eye on the outdoors.

The interior of the building has zones for different activities – play, eating, quiet activities such as reading or more active play.

The proposal repeats the classic gable motif, which characterizes the area (De Gamles By). It’s faced in the same direction as the existing buildings, thus becoming an integrated part of the neighbourhood.
